There isn't a lot left to say about the great Julia Child that hasn't already been said one hundred times before. When trying to come up with the best way to honor this great cook for what would have been her 102nd birthday, we had difficulty coming up with something new. And then it hit us, the best way to honor Julia is with food. Delicious, rich and decadent food.
While her passing 10 years ago touched all of us who adored her, what we like to remember from that day was reports of what she ate as her last meal. Julia's last meal wasn't the grand feast she had said she wanted. There was no caviar, oysters, foie gras, pan-roasted duck or poached pears. It was simpler, much less grand, but just as delicious: French onion soup. In our humble opinion, it was perfection.
